Amad Diallo’s goal in the last minute sent the game into extra time, causing Liverpool to lose to Manchester United in excruciating fashion.

Even though he didn’t seem to care much for the red, Diallo came off the bench to be the hero and was subsequently sent off for his celebration.

It was a pivotal moment for United that secured their place in the semi-final and gave them a strong chance to play in an all-Manchester final.

But for Liverpool, it meant their ambitions of winning four titles were over. The fact that Cody Gakpo squandered a fantastic opportunity in the 78th minute made Jurgen Klopp’s irritation evident. He will be frustrated that his team was unable to increase their possession total throughout regular time.

Here, Klopp has good reason to be miffed at Gakpo. Had he taken a different approach and made the proper decision, Liverpool might have been out of sight before United had a chance to rally.
