MU got lucky in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Immediately after the match at Old Trafford on March 17, the organizers conducted a draw to divide the FA Cup semi-finals . Manchester United will take on Coventry, while Manchester City face Chelsea .

Coach Erik ten Hag and his team were lucky, only having to meet the opponent ranked 9th in the Championship. The two FA Cup semi-finals took place on April 20 and 21 respectively.

If MU overcomes Coventry and at the same time Man City defeats Chelsea, fans will witness a rematch between the two Manchester clubs in the FA Cup final for two consecutive seasons. At the end of the 2022/23 season, Man City defeated MU at Wembley in their journey to win a historic treble.

To get a ticket to the semi-finals, MU had to spend 120 breathtaking minutes against Liverpool. Coach Erik ten Hag’s team was led 2-1 by Liverpool and had to wait until the 87th minute to equalize 2-2.

In extra time, MU once again let Liverpool take the lead 3-2. However, goals from Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo helped the “Red Devils” reach the FA Cup semi-finals for the 32nd time in history, an achievement no other club can touch.

According to Opta , MU has eliminated Liverpool from the FA Cup 11 times. In history, only one pair has eliminated each other more times (Liverpool defeated Everton 12 times).

The FA Cup is the only arena where MU still has a chance to win the title this season. However, they will have to overcome difficult challenges in the semi-finals. Coventry just had an impressive performance when eliminating another Premier League representative , Wolves, right at Molineux Stadium.
