Emma Watson’s perilous shoes at Christian Dior

WEARING shoes that appeared to have virtually no heels, Emma Watson presumably relied on a little Hogwarts magic to keep her balance at a Christian Dior fashion show in Paris yesterday.

The 24-year-old actress stepped out in an asymmetric, one-shoulder black and white dress but it was her unusual shoes that caught the eye.

From the front, it seemed as if she was wearing sleek white stilettos, but Watson’s choice of footwear was somewhat more adventurous.

The Harry Potter star’s quirky shoes featured a cut-out wedge heel and looked as though they would have tested the balance of a supermodel.

Watson wore the bold outfit at the Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2014 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week. It was a creation from the French design house’s previous season.

She teamed her unusual dress, which featured a layered top with a sheer spotted skirt, and the unique shoes with natural make-up, opting for a slight red lip and a few false lashes.

Watson, who wore her hair in a simple centre-parting, was joined on the front row by Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence. Other famous faces at the show included French actress Marion Cotillard and Charlize Theron.

Watson is set to play Kelsea Glynn in the film adaptation of The Queen Of The Tearling, Erika Johansen’s fantasy novel about a young woman raised by foster parents in a remote cottage but born to be queen of the realm.

She will reportedly sport no make-up to appear as a more realistic heroine, with one of her co-stars saying that “with Emma it’s hard to be that plain, but she’ll be playing someone who has a physicality.”

Before filming, Watson will have to learn to ride a horse and do weeks of combat training that will include swordsmanship. She will also be taught how to snare rabbits and practise climbing trees.
