Luc Phong City, Yunnan Province, China is where many dinosaur fossils were discovered. This place is listed as the “homeland of dinosaur fossils”.

In May, residents of Jinshan town, Luc Phong city saw strange large skeletons on the hillside and immediately notified the authorities.

Archaeologists arrived at the scene and found it was a dinosaur fossil.

Because the fossils were exposed on the surface, to minimize the possibility of damage due to weather, the Luc Phong Dinosaur Fossil Research and Conservation Center conducted excavations very quickly.

Mr. Vuong Dao, Director of the Center for Research and Conservation of Dinosaur Fossils here, revealed that this dinosaur fossil dates from the early Jurassic period, with an estimated age of 180 to 200 million years.

Based on his experience, Mr. Vuong Dao believes that this is a giant Lufengsaurus. Based on the tail and femur, this dinosaur was about 8 meters long.

What’s even more special is that this dinosaur fossil is very well preserved, about 70% complete, and is extremely rare in the world.

Mr. Vuong Dao said that if the dinosaur’s neck or head vertebrae are unearthed later, this will become a “national treasure” dinosaur fossil, a discovery that will surprise the whole world .

Lufengsaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur. It lived in the southwest of the continent during the early Jurassic period. This is the first dinosaur discovered and excavated on land.
