Jennifer Lawrence Addresses Liam Hemsworth Affair Rumors

Jennifer Lawrence is setting the record straight regarding those Liam Hemsworth affair rumors.

On Monday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the host asked the actress point blank about her relationship with her Hunger Games costar—specifically whether there is any truth to claims they had a fling while he was still with Miley Cyrus.

The question came up during a game of “Plead the Fifth,” when Cohen brought up fans’ theories that Cyrus alludes to the alleged affair in her “Flowers” music video (in which she wears a golden Saint Laurent dress similar to the Prabal Gurung gown Lawrence wore to the Hunger Games premiere in 2012, with Hemsworth).

“Not true,” Lawrence said of the rumors about her and Hemsworth.

“Total rumor. We all know we only kissed one time, and it was years after they broke up, so I just assumed that (the dress) was a coincidence,” she added.

In a 2015 interview on WWHL, Lawrence got candid about the off-screen kiss she and Hemsworth once shared, and noted that their romantic relationship did not go further than that. “Liam and I grew up together. Liam’s real hot. What would you have done?” she joked at the time.

Lawrence admitted in this latest interview that when she sees false reports about her on the internet, she is tempted to post a response, but ultimately doesn’t, as she doesn’t run her own Twitter or Instagram.

“If five people at a party think you slept with somebody’s boyfriend, it’s really upsetting,” she said. “And then you multiply it by—I’m not good at the math—eight billion.”

Lawrence and Hemsworth filmed the four-movie Hunger Games franchise between 2012 and 2015, playing onscreen best friends-to-lovers Katniss Everdeen and Gale Hawthorne. The actor dated Cyrus on and off from 2010 to late 2018, when they got married. They split months later and finalized their divorce in 2020.
