Back in 2007, Hollywood icons Tom Cruise and Will Smith orchestrated a grand welcome for David Beckham as he embarked on his journey with LA Galaxy, following his blockbuster transfer from Real Madrid to the United States.
The high-profile soirée was reminiscent of an extravagant post-Oscars celebration, attended by some of the most prominent figures in the world of film and music, including Bruce Willis, Jim Carrey, Matthew Perry, and Stevie Wonder.
The extravagant festivities left a lasting impression, comparable to being inside Madame Tussauds, as celebrity sightings were abundant in every direction.
Beckham himself reminisced about the event in his documentary series “BECKHAM” on Netflix, recalling, “I remember Tom turning around and saying, ‘Me and Will are going to throw you a party.’ And I was like, ‘Will?’ He said, ‘Will Smith!’”
Beckham’s spell with LA Galaxy, from 2007 until 2013, prior to his move to Paris Saint-Germain and eventual retirement, saw him participate in 124 games, contributing with 20 goals and 42 assists.
The following year, exercising his option to acquire a franchise, the Manchester United legend made a return to MLS and later founded Inter Miami. The star-studded welcome party remains a memorable highlight in Beckham’s illustrious career.
