The remains of “a mother still protects her child until death” 4,000 years ago

It was one of several sets of remains announced at an archaeological conference on early civilization in China, held in Gansu province, China in early August.

This touching image was taken at the Lajia archaeological site in Qinghai province, China. According to CCTV News, this is an area containing many evidences of a terrible earthquake that occurred 4,000 years ago.

The Lajia archaeological site is related to the Qijia culture of China (from 2200 BC – 1600 BC) whose inhabitants mainly lived in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. This is also the hometown of China’s oldest noodle dish.

Besides human remains, archaeologists also unearthed many other relics at the Lajia archaeological site.
