Archaeologists have just unearthed hundreds of Russian soldiers’ skeletons at the site of the Battle of Zyrzyn in eastern Poland. Experts believe that here are concentrated about 80 sets of remains of soldiers, believed to be Russian, buried in mass graves .
According to historical records, nearly 200 Russian soldiers were killed by Polish forces during the 1863 battle, and another 282 were captured. And now, the ‘screaming’ skeletons of nearly a hundred Russian soldiers killed in a battle 150 years ago have been discovered in a mass grave in eastern Poland.
These skeletons were discovered by archaeologists on the site of the Battle of Zyrzyn, off the S17 Lublin-Warsaw highway in Zerdz, eastern Poland. In 1863, Russian soldiers were on their way to transport goods worth up to 200,000 rubles (about £2,500) when they were captured and killed by Polish forces.
The photos show skeletons lying side by side in the old battlefield area, their skeletons wide open, their mouths still ‘open’ as if screaming for help.
