Following the Belgian and Argentinian players is Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller – who has 183 assists in 461 matches.
The likes of Angel Di Maria, Neymar and Luis Suarez are all behind the German striker – with a surprise Premier League player appearing in seventh place on the list.
Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling – who also played for Liverpool and Man City – joins the list after Suarez, with an impressive tally of 123 assists.
Behind the England international is PSG striker Kylian Mbappé, who has 121 assists despite only making his first-team debut in 2015.
Closing the list are Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and former West Ham player Dimitri Payet – who have 119 and 115 respectively.
Man City star De Bruyne has registered 12 assists in the 2023-2024 campaign – despite missing the first six months of the season due to injury. After the win against Luton, the Belgian said even he was surprised to return from hamstring surgery so seamlessly.
De Bruyne told the media afterwards: “I’m not worried (about the hamstring injury) but to be honest, I didn’t expect to come back this way.
“It’s one of those games where you have a lot of one-on-one matches and there’s a lot of space. If you find the right angles, you will have many opportunities. We found a way to hurt them and Erling scored the goal. That’s good.
“If you play fast, which is difficult because they have more possession of the ball, but once you understand how to keep the ball a little longer, it becomes difficult for Luton as the pace accidentally leaves them with a lot of space. That’s the weakness in the way they play. It was difficult but we found a way.”
