The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly expected to sign wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a long-term contract extension this offseason.
Dan Graziano of ESPN reported the Cowboys will be motivated to reach a deal with Lamb rather than having him play out the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. Lamb’s cap number and salary for next season are both $18 million.
It’s the former that worries the Cowboys as they face a cap crunch and need to shore up their roster. Quarterback Dak Prescott and do-everything defensive star Micah Parsons are both set for extensions this offseason as well, with Prescott in particular needing a deal to lower his $59.5 million cap number.
Lamb recently appeared on Parsons’ podcast, The Edge, and said he wants to be paid among the NFL’s top wideouts.
“I can’t give you no numbers right now, but I’ll tell you this, one of the top-paid receivers for sure, if not the (highest-paid),” Lamb said. “That’s always the goal.”
Parsons called getting a deal with Lamb done the Cowboys’ “priority” during an appearance on NFL Network.
