Ronaldo: ‘I’m here, Messi is not’

Al Nassr captain striker Cristiano Ronaldo repeatedly burst into anger after the final whistle. Ronaldo did not react well to the ridicule he received from Al Hilal fans. The 39-year-old Portuguese striker played in the final of the Riyadh Season Cup, a tournament that also featured Inter Miami and Lionel Messi .

Football’s green card plan was questioned when the announcement was delayed because of backlash.

Before the Riyadh Season Cup final between Al Nassr and Al Hilal took place, the legendary WWE Undertaker walked out of the tunnel at the Kingdom Arena to the sound of majestic background music. The camera captured Undertaker standing next to the championship trophy, before the scene cut to an image of Ronaldo. Ronaldo was seen laughing and joking with his teammates.

But when the match took place, “the smile disappeared” from Ronaldo’s lips. Ronaldo was powerless to prevent his team from losing 2-0 to Al Hilal, who are also top of Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Pro League , seven points ahead of second-placed Al Nassr.

Ronaldo reacted angrily when Al Hilal fans continuously chanted Lionel Messi’s name throughout the match. The video shows Ronaldo angrily pointing at himself and then pointing at the ground and seemingly saying: “I’m here, Messi is not.”

Ronaldo’s outburst could refer to the fact that he is playing in Saudi Arabia and not Messi, or that Al Nassr beat Inter Miami 6-0 to reach the final of the tournament. However, neither Ronaldo nor Messi played in that match.

But that smile no longer appeared in the final between Al Nassr and Al Hilal when Ronaldo reached the podium to receive the runner-up medal. Captain Al Nassr angrily pushed aside an official when he was blocked.

And yet, on the way Ronaldo entered the tunnel to leave the field, fans threw an Al Hilal shirt at Ronaldo. In response, Ronaldo picked up the shirt, put it on his body, then threw it back into the stands before continuing to walk.
