Gal Gadot isn’t letting a bad experience with a director stop her from returning to set. The actress was recently photographed filming In the Hands of Dante. Paparazzi caught up with her as she exited a water taxi in Venice, Italy when arriving to the filming location.
Gal donned an incognito looked with big, black sunglasses hiding her face, while her dark hair was slicked back in a modern ‘do.

Gal Gadot Is Currently Filming ‘In The Hands of Dante’
Last fall, it was announced that Julian Schnabel In The Hands of Dante would begin shooting the following October, and Gal’s recent sighting proves everything is right on-track.
The film is an adaption of Nick Tosches’s historical novel of the same name, and it’s been in the works for years. In 2008, Johnny Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil bought the rights to produce the movie. Then, in 2011, it was first rumored that Schnabel would be coming on for the project.
Despite much anticipation over the book adaption, it took the film over a decade to begin filming, but clearly, it’s now in the works. Schnabel confirmed that Oscar Isaac will be starring in the film, not Depp.
Gadot is one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood at the moment, thanks to movies like Wonder Woman and Death on the Nile. So, it’s not surprising she’s been tapped to act in the big blockbuster, though there’s limited information about her involvement at this time.
A Conflict With Joss Whedon Almost Ruined Gal Gadot’s Career
But Gal once almost had a career-altering moment when she stood up to a director who was insisting she partake in a sexualized comedy scene that made her uncomfortable. When reprising her role as Wonder Woman in 2017’s Justice League, Joss Whedon took over for Zack Snyder in the middle of filming, due to the latter’s daughter’s death.
Though filming was apparently 90% finish, Whedon insisted on re-shooting certain scenes, which led to conflict with cast members, including Gadot, who has claimed Whedon tried to sabotage her career. The scene in question involved her character Diana Prince and Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen, but Gadot pushed back at the idea.
Though Whedon eventually got the scene included, they reached a compromise by using a body double for Gal. However, it wasn’t without a lot of conflict.
Related Director Patty Jenkins played a major role in the chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine.
“What I had with Joss basically is that he kind of threatened my career,” Gadot later said of the experience. “And said if I did something, he would make my career miserable. I handled it on the spot.”
Whedon subsequently responded to Gadot’s accusations, claiming it was all a big misunderstanding. However, his words were considered insulting by insinuating that Gal’s lack of English was to blame for the situation. “I don’t threaten people, who does that? English is not her first language, and I tend to be annoyingly flowery in my speech,” the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator said.
Nevertheless, Gadot later doubled down on her initial accusations, and denied Whedon’s rebuttle. “I understood perfectly. I will never work with him and would never suggest any of my peers work with him in the future,” she stated.
Needless to say, while Gadot’s career has gone on to flourish, she likely won’t be working with Whedon again.
