Ronaldo’s heart: A life for family and community

Cristiano Ronaldo, rising from poverty to the pinnacle of success, has always strived to do the best for his family while maintaining a strong commitment to the community.

At the age of 18 in 2003, Ronaldo left his home country of Portugal for a new destination – Manchester United, one of the football powerhouses in England and Europe.

Everything changed for Ronaldo. From a monthly salary of 2,000 euros at Sporting, his income skyrocketed to 150,000 euros per month upon joining Manchester United – a staggering 75-fold increase.

Quickly gaining influence and becoming a star at Old Trafford, Ronaldo’s income continued to rise through contract renewals with Manchester United’s board.

While amassing wealth rapidly, Ronaldo found himself involved in numerous love affairs and extravagant parties that lasted through the night, with beautiful women and some teammates.

However, amidst this lifestyle, Ronaldo maintained a special responsibility to his family. Influenced in part by Sir Alex Ferguson and, above all, by his humble origins and personal struggles, Ronaldo directed a significant portion of his early earnings at Manchester United towards his family.

Unfortunately, these funds couldn’t save his father, Jose Dinis Aveiro, who succumbed to alcohol addiction on September 7, 2005.

Family is Everything

The tragedy of his father deeply impacted Ronaldo’s thoughts and life, even to this day. Since then, Ronaldo has done even more for his family. For him, his mother Maria Dolores Aveiro and family mean everything.

As of now, Ronaldo has purchased a beautiful castle on the Madeira Islands for his mother Dolores. However, this material gift is just one aspect of what Ronaldo has done for his mother.

Particularly, it was Ronaldo’s spiritual and material support that helped Dolores overcome breast cancer several years ago.

For many years, Ronaldo dedicated money and time to help his younger brother Hugo overcome drug addiction and turn his life around. With Ronaldo’s support, Hugo now owns a painting company with 15 employees.

His older sister Elma is running a store named CR7, opened by Ronaldo himself in their hometown. Ronaldo’s older sister Katia, with his support, fulfilled her dream of becoming a pop singer under the stage name Ronalda.

A Lifetime for the Community

Ronaldo not only dedicates everything he can to his family but also actively contributes to the community.

Many remember the story of Ronaldo emptying his pockets and contributing to the victims of the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia. Subsequently, he assisted in reforestation efforts to prevent natural disasters.

Apart from business income and image rights, Ronaldo’s basic salary at Real Madrid alone is currently 1.5 million euros per month (equivalent to 375,000 euros per week, 50,000 euros per day, or approximately 2,083 euros per hour). He allocates a significant portion of this for community activities.

In 2011, Ronaldo auctioned his European Golden Shoe to build schools for children in Palestine after Israel bombed the Gaza Strip. He has helped many poor and disadvantaged children in Palestine, and whenever he plays in Israel, he faces backlash.

Numerous hospitals worldwide have received assistance from Ronaldo, either through equipment provision or financial aid for cancer treatment centers and impoverished disease centers, saving dozens of children globally.

A Past that Defines Character

From his father’s past, Ronaldo has never smoked or consumed alcohol, even during nightclub outings. He actively participates in humanitarian blood donation activities and encourages others to do the same.

Ronaldo also contributes to the economy, especially in tourism on the Madeira Islands. His assistance is evident through using his own image – currently the highest-valued footballer in the world – for free marketing campaigns.

Nobody is perfect, and Ronaldo’s personal life has sparked controversy. However, above all, he remains an inspiration for many to follow.
