According to an announcement from the organizers of Al Nassr’s China tour, both matches between the reigning Arab runners-up and Guangzhou club, Zhejiang, on January 24 and 28, respectively, have been canceled. The reason was that Ronaldo was injured and could not play.
According to the organizers, they will refund all costs incurred, from tickets to hotels to airfares for distant fans.
As for Ronaldo, the superstar born in 1985 expressed sadness at not being able to participate in tomorrow’s match: “I understand how you feel. I’m also very upset. You know, I’m a player who gets injured very rarely, even though I’ve been playing at the top for 22 years. Even so, there are incidents that are out of control.
My teammates and I are very grateful for the warm welcome of the Chinese fans. We’ll be back one day.”
Earlier, Arab media reported that Ronaldo was injured and needed at least 2 weeks to recover. Not only the China tour, but Al Nassr’s plans to play a friendly against Inter Miami on February 1 are also in danger of being canceled.
Ronaldo chose the safest option for himself. Instead of playing to earn money, he opted to rest, preparing for the sprint phase of the 2023–24 season with Al Nassr. Currently, CR7 and his teammates are competing for titles in the league and the AFC Champions League.
It is also the first time since joining Al Nassr that the Portuguese superstar has suffered an injury. The last time Ronaldo had to retire due to health problems was in 2021.
