Although she’s back into the swing of performing, mother-of-one Shakira – who has a 15-month-old baby Milan – credits her son with changing her life.
Shakira gave birth to Milan in January of 2013, after being in a relationship with Gerard Pique since as early as 2010 when they met on the singer’s music video for Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)
‘Becoming a mother has forced me to slow down and reorganize my life to find a way to still be devoted to all the things I’m pᴀssionate about-music, philanthropy, and motherhood,’ she told Ocean Drive magazine.
She also discussed her relationship with the Spanish soccer player.
‘In my house, I would say the balance of power is fairly equal. Relationships have to have a give and take if they’re going to work in the long term,’ she told the magazine of her relationship with 27-year-old Gerard.
And the star says she feels completely different since her 2010 album Sale El Sole.
‘Since my last album, I’ve entered one of the happiest phases of my life,’ she added. ‘It was definitely a time of change, of rebirth, of self-discovery, and of course becoming a mother, which turned my world on its heads in the best of ways.’
