Just hours after Britney Spears‘s camp announced that she was seeking psychological treatment, the pop star appeared back in the midst of actions that seemed anything but therapeutic.
Around 9 p.m. Monday, Spears’s father Jamie and her mother Lynne – who earlier visited Britney’s kids Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1 at Kevin Federline‘s house in Tarzana – arrived at their daughter’s home.
Whatever occurred at the family reunion didn’t last long, as Spears, clutching a bag, bolted from the mansion, hopped into a car with her paparazzi pal Adnan Ghalib and sped off, says a source.
Their getaway hit a speed bump, however, when their car got a flat tire and forced them into a Chevron station for air. They then returned to Britney’s house and to mother Lynne, leaving Ghalib to depart soon after.
About 90 minutes later, around 1:30 a.m., mother and daughter left the house together themselves, headed to a Longs Drugstore in Studio City.
The action-packed evening actually got underway much earlier Monday evening, when Spears and her confidante Sam Lutfi went for a short drive around Beverly Hills.
When they returned to her Summit home at around 6 p.m., the visibly distraught singer – who appeared to be arguing with Lutfi – jumped out of the white Mercedes near the gated community’s guardhouse.
Spears – wearing brown high heels, cutoff shorts and a plaid fedora as she clutched her Yorkie puppy London – wandered around in tears and, at one point, sat down on the curb. “She looked completely lost,” says an on-scene source.
Only Spears seemed to downplay the incident, saying, “I’m fine. I’m having a nice time with my dog.”
The singer ended up hopping into a car with photographer Filipe Teixeira, who gave her a lift to a Ralph’s supermarket in Studio City before he brought her home – and she invited him and another photographer inside. Ghalib, who’d been noticeably absent from Spears’s side in recent days, showed up about half an hour later.
Later on, police cars pulled up to the house in response to a call from security at Spears’s gated community.
“Spears drove through the gates and paparazzi followed her car on foot,” said LAPD Officer Mike Lopez. “By the time officers arrived, the paparazzi were off the property, but officers handed out citations for those who were illegally parked.”
