Tom Cruise is an absolutely great choice for the role of Jack Reacher. Even though he doesn’t have a mountain man persona depicted in Lee Child’s books, he’s still praised.
Another actor, Alan Ritchson, was later cast for the 2022 Reacher series. Ritchson is a tall-looking big man who totally fits the bill. People liked his version of a former U.S. Army Military Police Officer because of the toughness and explicitness that he brought in the action scenes.
But Ritchson himself labeled Cruise as the “most legendary actor of all time.” He reacted to his comparison with the Top Gun: Maverick star for playing Reacher.

When he was asked if he ever gets tired of being compared with the Mission: Impossible star. To this, the 41-year-old said,
“Never. Being compared to the most legendary actor of all time? The last film star? I would never tire of being compared to somebody of his stature.”
Admiring the superstar, he went on to say, “Look, he did his thing, he brought a lot of eyes to this project that wouldn’t be here otherwise, I think.”
Ritchson then added before signing off,
“There’s some great IP, the books are great, a lot of people have read them and enjoy the show because of them, but I think a lot of people enjoy the show because he made them aware of it.”
The discussion among the fans was sparked after the newest season of Reacher, where they compared Ritchson and Cruise for their portrayals.

Though it’s not confirmed from which book this season will be taken, speaking with ComicBook.com, Ritchson teased that “there’s a lot of classic Reacher stories which are just adventures that he gets sucked into in a big way.” He continued:
“And we get to enjoy Reacher in a new world. It may not have anything to do with family, with his past, he’s just living that adventure out and that’s kind of the direction that we’ve gone and it seems to really be working.”
