The upcoming film adaption of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel boasts an all-star cast including Florence Pugh, Timothée Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, Meryl Streep, and Laura Dern according to IMDb.

The Oscar-nominated director of Lady Bird, Greta Gerwig, is both directing and writing the film, which is set to premiere on Christmas Day 2019.

Little Women

According to Variety, Watsons’ role as Meg March was supposed to be played by Emma Stone, but she was able to commit due to “promotional obligations” for her newest film, The Favourite, which releases November 23.

Little Women follows the story of four sisters coming of age in America after the Civil War. In the 1994 version of the film, Trini Alvarado plays Meg. She starred opposite Winona Ryder, Claire Dames, Samantha Mathis, and Christian Bale.
