FIFA ruled, ending the case of Ronaldo being stripped of 6 goals

Ronaldo was honored as the top scorer of the year.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in 2023 with 54 goals in 59 matches, followed by Kylian Mbappe (52 goals in 53 matches), Harry Kane (52 goals in 57 matches) and Erling Haaland (50 goals in 60 matches)”, FIFA homepage reported.

FIFA’s move ends all controversy about Ronaldo’s scoring record in 2023. Previously, some newspapers said that CR7 actually only scored 48 goals last year. The Portuguese superstar’s 6 goals were deducted in the Arab Club Champions Cup (ACC Cup), a tournament organized by the Arab Football Federation (UAFA). Many people still see this as just a pre-season friendly tournament.

Ronaldo’s supporters believe that the Arab Cup Champions League , although not part of the FIFA, UEFA, AFC or Saudi Arabia Football Federation competition system, is still a traditional tournament. The nature of this tournament is not like the ICC Cup or other summer friendly tournaments.

ACC Cup was established in 1981 and has been held 30 times. Participating clubs must also compete seriously from the preliminary round, group round and knock-out round as if it were an official cup tournament.

In the latest interview, Ronaldo announced that he wants to continue to be number one in the world in 2024: “I am very happy, this is really a good year for me individually and collectively.
