Kyle Larson has started the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season off strong through the first half-dozen races, recording three top fives, including his first win of the year on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where he passed his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman in the final laps at the 1.5-mile track to score the victory.
On Wednesday, the 2021 Cup champ made an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio for an interview with veteran broadcaster Dave Moody. The pair talked about the 32-year-old driver’s extended race weekend in Florida, where he won two of three races, including his victory on Friday night in the Truck Series and coming up short in Saturday’s Xfinity race after a dominating performance.

After several minutes of conversation, the show host shifted the discussion to the upcoming race.

“Let’s look ahead to Martinsville here,” Moody said. “Hasn’t been your best racetrack lately, at least by the numbers, by the finishing positions. How do we change all that this weekend?”
“I don’t know what numbers you’re looking at,” Larson promptly replied. “But it’s probably our best track, honestly. We’ve won. We’ve finished second multiple times. I think we finished third there in the fall.
“Surprisingly, it’s probably statistically our best track. Which it feels like my worst track. When I go there I actually feel lost. But we somehow finish really well there and score a lot of points.”

To Larson’s point, in his previous five races at The Paper Clip, the No. 5 driver has recorded finishes of second, first (lone career Cup win), sixth, second and third.
The Cup Series race coverage at the half-mile track begins at 3 p.m. ET on FS1.
