Stephen A. Smith Predicts Cowboys Win Over Jalen Hurts’ Eagles, Expresses Doubt on Playoff Prospects

Stephen A. Smith is on board the Dallas Cowboys hype train, but not for the long run. While he believes that Jerry Jones‘s team will beat the Philadelphia Eagles, the veteran sports analyst is sticking to his assessment of their postseason chances.

It’s no secret that Stephen A. is one of the first names to pop up in the mind of any football fan when someone asks who the Cowboys’ biggest critic is. And more interestingly, he wears that badge with pride. A short example would be his TikTok video after the Cowboys’ narrow loss in the reverse fixture against the Eagles last month.

However, on this occasion, the same Stephen A. Smith has chosen to go with the Dallas Cowboys when they face Phillie on Sunday night.

I am picking the Cowboys to win the game, you hear? I am picking the Cowboys to win this game.

Smith said during a recent segment of ESPN First Take

It surprised his colleagues, Ryan Clark and Molly Qerim. However, he is not on board with the Cowboys delivering in the postseason.

I ain't saying they are going to do a damn thing come January. But right now, I am going to do it. You know what I am saying? They are going to have a home game, and I am going to do it first. Take it from Jerry World in the parking lot at the tailgate. Yeah, that's what I am going to do.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is firmly in contention for the NFL MVP award. The 30-year-old has thrown for 3234 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. He has four 300+ passing yards hauls along with a quarterback rating of 75.4.

Yet this isn’t enough to convince Prescott himself that he could win the Most Valuable Player award, and Stephen A. Smith agreed with him.

For once, I do agree with Dak Prescott. He hasn't done sh*t yet. I really, really am proud of him for finally saying what needs to be said. The reality is that Dak Prescott's no scrub. He can ball. But in the end, there are moments, big moments, where he's come up small, which is why it explains in part, anyway, why the Dallas Cowboys haven't been in the NFC championship game, let alone the Super Bowl, since 1995.

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t won the Super Bowl since Troy Aikman and Jimmy Johnson won it back in 1995. Jerry Jones’ side has tried several times to replicate that feat but has always come short.

2022: Lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 19-12.

2018: Lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 30-22.

2016: Lost to the Green Bay Packers, 34-31

2014: Lost to the Green Bay Packers, 26-21

2009: Lost to the Minnesota Vikings, 34-3

2007: Lost to the New York Giants, 21-17

1996: Lost to the Carolina Panthers, 26-17

The Eagles game on Sunday will be a test of their might. Home-field advantage will play a big part in the tie as the Cowboys have not lost in Arlington in 14 games.
